Kendo Joint Practice - July 17

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Date: Saturday, July 17

Location: Edythe J. Hayes Middle School Gymnasium

Address: 260 Richardson Place , Lexington , KY

Schedule: The space has been reserved from 1 to 5 pm. The Japanese school children will join the practice around 3 pm

Also, we have 3 upcoming events that I would like everyone to know about. The first will the Shinpan seminar which will be held in the middle of August. We are working towards defining the date (either Aug 14 or 21), but should have the firm date in the next week or so. The next event will be the Student Tournament which will be held in September in Lexington. The third event is the September joint practice which will be held in Indianapolis. If your dojo would like to host a joint practice event, please let me know and we can decide when this would be appropriate. Please keep in mind that there may be a larger group attending and the practice space should accommodate that. If your dojo needs money to reserve a larger space, let us know and we can discuss compensation.

Thanks, and I hope to see everyone at practice,

April Joint Practices

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

I am pleased to announce the dates of two upcoming joint practices to be held on Saturday, April 3 and Saturday, April 24 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM in RPAC Multipurpose Room A200 at Ohio State University campus in Columbus. Please encourage your members to attend. As a note, the first portion of the practice will be dedicated to kata, so be sure to bring your bokken.

A special note, the OSU group in charge of the practice room has changed a few rules. We need to submit a list of attendees to them in order to obtain permission to use the room. The list does not have to be complete, but it will be most helpful if each dojo rep could send me a list of names of those who MAY attend. We should only have to do this once, so feel free to include people who may attend at some future practice.

Thank you,
Chris Ruggiero

Nashville Kendo Club (NKC)

Dear Kenshi,

We would like to invite you to the 2nd Annual ECUSKF Student Tournament to be held on Sunday, November 8th in Lexington, KY at the University of Kentucky, Alumni Gymnasium. The tournament last year showed that the kendo spirit is strong in the young kendo players of our region.. We hope that this year’s tournament will be just as successful in igniting your kendo spirit.

For those who have time, there will be a godo-keiko Saturday, November 7th at 3:30pm to coincide with CKKC (Central Kentucky Kendo Club) practice, held at CKJS gym. Everyone is welcome to join this practice.

In this packet you will find entry forms, schedule, and travel and hotel information.

It is our hope that you can join us for a day of spirited competition, camaraderie and friendship.

Best wishes,
Toshiya Otsuki, ECUSKF
